Jacob, a laid off worker, came into Michigan Works! with a big smile and a big goal. He was determined to change his life and we were happy to be a part of his journey. Being eligible for programmatic assistance, we enrolled Jacob into one of the workforce development programs we facilitate – the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program.
Through discussions with Jacob, we determined that a career in truck driving would help him meet his goals. He was diligent in getting his paperwork submitted and excited to attend Midwest Truck Driving school to obtain his CDL. Kyle, an employee from Midwest, sent us weekly updates and always reported that Jacob was doing well and was a pleasure to work with.
When Jacob passed his road test, he called us right away to thank us for helping him reach his goal and to thank Upper Peninsula Michigan Works! for giving him this fantastic opportunity. Jacob was a pleasure to work with and we wish him the best in his bright future on the road.
