Jacqueline Purcell, an adult participant, was referred to UP Michigan Works! by EUP Regional Planning, who was looking to bring her on as an intern through the Summer Young Professionals (SYP) program. Once summer concluded, Jacqueline left the program and continued on in school. While taking classes, she worked in a transitional job that lasted from January 2020 to June 2020.

That October, Jacqueline took part in the SYP program again; she was once again working at EUP Regional Planning. Her second stint with SYP ended December 31st.

A month later, in January, EUP Regional Planning had an opening, and Jacqueline was hired into a permanent, part-time position that will allow her to complete her college education. She is working 30 hours per week earning over $13 per hour. She will graduate in May with her bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation.

Through a combination of programs and hands-on assistance, UP Michigan Works! helped Jacqueline get ready to win!
