Connect Construction Students Get “Drafted” into Apprenticeships

In Escanaba, students in the Construction Connect UP were “drafted” into skilled trades apprenticeships with their signatory contractors and U.P building trades Unions. Students in the apprenticeship work 2-3 hours in the morning or afternoon while making $13/ hr.  Opportunities like this one set youth up for not just a job, but a career in the building trades industry!

To qualify for the program during the 2023-2024 school year, students must at the time of the program’s start: 

  • Be a high school senior at least 17  years of age
  • Be enrolled in a certified CTE program
  • Have a driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Pass a drug screening
